Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final Tackles Pace of Play Management With Technology
Kennesaw, Ga. (Nov. 2, 2023) — The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final taking place this week in Mallorca, Spain gives players the chance to earn a card for the DP World Tour. With pace of play a hot topic at the Masters and other majors this year, the Challenge Tour, supported by the R&A, was intent on ensuring good pace and flow of play at the Grand Final.
Tournament organizers approached pace of play and optimization technology expert Tagmarshal to track player pace this week. Tagmarshal has been working with the DP World Tour for nearly 4 years. No stranger to golf in Spain, Tagmarshal also has a long-term partnership with the Club de Golf Alcanada, host to the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final.
Tagmarshal International’s managing director, Stephen Knoop, knows there will be numerous benefits to using the technology and data – not just for Tour officials, but also for players and spectators.
“Improving both the pace and flow of the play will result in a better experience for the players. With fewer hold-ups in play, and technology enabled line of sight for rulings, officials have an improved tournament environment, and the general public will enjoy a more fulfilling day of spectating.”
Tagmarshal’s optimization and pace of play technology has been improving pace of play and the player experience at hundreds ofgolf clubs since launching in the USA in 2015, where it is now in use at 35 of the country’s top 100 venues, including major hosts Whistling Straits, Valhalla, Erin Hills, Oakmont, Pinehurst, the Ocean Course at Kiawah, and some 500 other partners.
Its European expansion began in 2017 in Spain, at Club de Golf Alcanada, who received a 2023 Platinum Award for performance excellence in recognition of exceptional pace and flow of play and levels of on-course service at this year’s Tagmarshal Awards. Tagmarshal is now in use at 80 facilities across Europe, including the prestigious Real Club de Sotogrande, in Spain; the highly acclaimed Praia D’El Rey and West Cliffs resorts in Portugal; Ballybunion and Portmarnock in Ireland; and The Grove, Royal Portrush, Turnberry, and eight-time Open Championship host Carnoustie Golf Links in the UK.
Kristoff Both, Director of Golf at Club de Golf Alcanada, puts his trust in Tagmarshal:
“I consider Tagmarshal a revolution in golf management. For the first time, we are 100% in control of what is happening on the course. On top of optimizing our course flow, we can empower our staff and have objective data to manage and continuously improve our operation.”
