OCEAN LOUNGE UNVEILS STUNNING NEW BOURBON DISPLAY

Acclaimed rooftop lounge puts spotlight on impressive spirits program

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Aug. 27, 2025) — Ocean Lounge at Sea Pines Beach Club is renowned for providing an upscale dining experience while providing a world-class selection of more than 200 spirits, including an impressive array of bourbons. This week, the rooftop restaurant at The Sea Pines Resort—acclaimed by locals and visitors alike for its intimate atmosphere and unfettered Atlantic Ocean views—has unveiled a stunning new bourbon display that greets guests upon entering.

Featuring nearly 40 rare and aged bottles of bourbon to suit a wide spectrum of tastes, the distinctive all-glass display is designed to intrigue diners and provide an idea of their whiskey options before they’re even seated.

“This new display allows us to further highlight the wonderful bourbon/spirit program at Ocean Lounge that we are often told is the best on the island,” said Chip Duncan, Director of Restaurants, The Sea Pines Resort. “This is another way for us to elevate our guests’ dining experience that already features outstanding cuisine, spirits, service, views, and atmosphere.”

He gives praise to Ocean Lounge’s mixologist, Matthew Buchan, who Duncan says has taken the restaurant’s spirits program to the next level.

“Improvement and innovation are vitally important to us as a property. Matt inherited a great program and managed to enhance it,” said Duncan, in his seventh year with the resort. “In addition to his extensive knowledge, Matt uses no artificial ingredients, making his own syrups, shrubs, and bitters by hand.”

Ocean Lounge at Sea Pines Beach Club was ranked the No. 1 rooftop bar in the United States, ahead of competition located in larger cities such as Chicago, New York, and Denver. In addition to being singled out as best in the U.S., the island destination was ranked No. 5 in the world. (The 2024 report, from MandoeMedia, ranked rooftop bars across the globe using data from Tripadvisor and Instagram.)

In addition to bourbons, premium whiskeys and scotches, Ocean Lounge has an extensive menu of tequilas, gins, cognacs, mezcals, and other spirits. In addition to the new display in the entry, most of the other bottles are on view in the interior bar.

Ocean Lounge is open daily from 4 to 9 p.m., serving guests 21 years of age and older for cocktails and a Caribbean-inspired dinner menu.
