Family Golf Celebrated Throughout July At Wintergreen Resort

Moms, Dads and Kids To Enjoy Special Events, Lessons & Packages

WINTERGREEN, Va. (June 29, 2010) — The Mid-Atlantic’s preferred family vacation destination, Wintergreen Resort has designated July as “Family Golf Month,” offering special opportunities for golfing moms and dads to enjoy time together with the kids – both on and off the course.

An award-winning, four-season resort and spa in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Wintergreen is offering a variety of programs that will appeal to the experienced golfer and beginner, as well, with a focus on attracting boys and girls to the game through complimentary lessons packages.

Wintergreen’s month-long “Learn Together Series” consists of four Saturday instructional sessions (July 10-17-24-31). Starting at 3 p.m., children get a free lesson from a Wintergreen Golf Academy staff professional, when accompanied by a parent taking a lesson for the regular fee.

All instruction, both youth and adult, is conducted at the newly renovated Wintergreen Golf Academy, a state-of-the-art facility located at the resort’s Stoney Creek Golf Course. All lesson programs at Wintergreen feature:

• Limit of 4:1 - student to teacher ratio

• Video swing analysis utilizing SwingModel system

• Short-game skills instruction (putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play)

• Golf-specific stretching and warm-up exercises

• Personalized Wintergreen Golf Academy instructional notebook

Among the special events during the month is “Take Your Daughter To The Course Week,” July 5-11. Parents are encouraged to play golf with their girls and Wintergreen is ready to provide everything they need for that experience – tee times, lessons, equipment, apparel and more.

Wintergreen also will conduct family-oriented chip-and-putt games and contests throughout the month, to encourage friendly family competition.

All guests playing golf on either of Wintergreen’s two resort courses –Stoney Creek and the mountaintop Devils Knob Golf Course – or participating in one of the instructional programs, have unlimited access to the Wintergreen practice facilities on the day of your round.
