MAKES PLANS FOR EGGS-STRA SPECIAL EASTER WEEKEND

WINTERGREEN, Va. (March 4, 2010) – The snow is falling aplenty at Wintergreen Resort, but so are the rates for the property’s late winter ski-and-stay packages as the resort prepares to cap off its memorable season. Combine that news with an attractive lineup of activities in March, and even into April for Easter, and the resort, located high atop Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is expecting a flurry of activity these next two months.

Slide, Splash & Bash Party Weekend | Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21. The annual event, which puts a cap on what has been a record-setting winter season at Wintergreen Resort, features music, food, skiing and riding and Saturday’s Terrain Park Party, highlighted by the popular Pond Skimming event on Sunday.

Weekend lift ticket specials will be offered – buy one at the regular rate on Saturday and get one for just $10 on Sunday is but one option – as will the resort’s “Winter Escape” overnight package with rates starting at just $69/person/night. The region’s top-rated snow tubing park and new zip line will be running throughout the weekend. On Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, The Edge will be the robust home for live entertainment.

Sunday’s pond skimming event – where skiers and boarders attempt to cross a 70-foot track, all the while braving brisk water temperatures of 40 degrees – runs from noon to 2:30 p.m., complete with an awards ceremony. 

There are special value rates available for lift tickets, equipment rentals and tubing, with 25% discounts from March 12-18 and 50% discounts from March 19-21.

Easter Weekend | Friday, April 2 through Sunday, April 4. Perhaps nothing better defines the perfect family getaway than what the property has planned for Easter weekend. Saturday’s “Easter Eggstravaganza,” to be held on the Lookout patio, will feature egg and cookie decorating, bonnet making, sun catcher, pansy potting, egg frame making and a peep roast. A jellybean counting contest also will be held with the winner earning a big prize. Easter Sunday fittingly starts at 9 a.m. with a worship service inside the ballroom. An Easter bonnet parade, highlighting the creations made the previous day, follows as does a traditional egg hunt.
